    This office-based leadership role provides management oversight for an assigned Application Specialist group within Operations. Team Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining supportive and effective working environment for the Application Specialist (AS) team, coordinating /prioritizing the deliverables with the project teams.  The Team manager is accountable for successful team related deliverables, quality, resourcing, metrics collection and future planning to meet key project milestones, whilst adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the company’s processes and global industry regulations. Maintains a close working relationship with leadership counterparts to ensure the internal and external SLAs are met and the processes are aligned with the company’s best practices and consistently applied across the AS team.



    Key Accountabilities/Decision Making & Influence

    Key Accountabilities

    1. Line Management responsibilities (hiring, performance appraisal and management, one to one meetings, employee engagement, personal development management, coaching) within the assigned AS group
    2.  Manage all phases of assigned projects, working collaboratively with internal delivery teams to agreed dates by assigning and prioritizing work within the AS team
    3. Oversee day-to-day management of the team in accordance with agreed KPIs/SLAs. Report KPIs in the Operations Weekly/Monthly meetings and provide status of the team’s Services, Quality and Cost in line with the operational targets.
    4. Workload and capacity management, forecast the resource needs for the AS team based on the incoming work.
    5. Support review and approval of project related study documentation during the course of the Project Lifecycle
    6. Accountable that the AS group maintains a high-quality service and on time delivery of project outputs for both internal and external clients
    7. Set priorities and make visible work in progress on a day to day basis with the team using scrum or appropriate methods. Provides technical oversight and direction.
    8. Acts as point of escalation for issues raised by internal and external clients / follow up with delivery teams to ensure an effective resolution of escalated issues
    9. Responsible for ensuring team’s compliance to QMS (Quality Management System). Ensure all Quality Management activities inclusive of Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective and Preventative Actions are documented clearly and accurately by AS team’s members across all assigned projects
    10. Ensure, knowledge and understanding remains up-to-date with software releases and updates. Support onboarding and training/mentoring of new hires. Responsible for creating, reviewing and maintaining training material for new team members.
    11. Other responsibilities will be assigned as required

    Decision Making and Influence

    1.  Required to make decisions within project portfolio managed by the assigned AS team to ensure operational excellence and quality delivery of project milestones
    2. Objectives are provided rather than details procedures and will be reviewed on a monthly basisRole holder needs to apply knowledge to resolve relatively complex operational problems.
    3. This can involve undertaking research, establishing a cost/benefit analysis, drawing well-founded conclusions and obtaining key stake-holder consensus

    Knowledge, Skills & Attributes


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, IT or Equivalent experience
    • 2-3 + years of proven team management experience, including direct/indirect line management, leading technical teams in delivering solutions to diverse business problems
    • Proven ability to lead a team and organize and prioritize daily activities, effectively deal with escalations.
    • Strong Problem-Solving ability and leadership in difficult situations
    • Communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Excellent written, time management, communications, decision making, human relations, and organizational skills
    • Should understand the software life cycle and the specification and configuration of software products
    • Must be office based



    • 3-5 + years of experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, IT or related industry
    • Ability to direct activities of a team, ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing company’s revenues
    • Experience in using software development & collaboration tools such as JIRA
    • Process Improvement/Design certification such as PMP or 6-sigma
    • Team oriented person with a “can do” attitude
    • Understand the software life cycle and the specification and configuration of software products
    • Good demonstrable experience in the following technologies: Java (or other programming languages), SQL, XML, GUI experience, MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
